The Olympic Truce Movement, Ekecheiria, to run concurrently with the Summer Olympics in Athens Greece, in the summer of 2004, is asking the nations of the world to stop all Wars for 16 days during late July and August.. Supported enthusiastically by The United Nations, this phenomenon was conceived in part to balance the primarily Male competitive spirit of the Games with the Female inclusiveness of World Peace. In ancient Greece, the Ekecheiria lasted for one thousand years, each Olympic Games marked by the sixteen day cessation of Hostilities around the world. The truly multi-ethnic PASSIONATE PEACE PARTNERS OF KOSOVO, initiated by the COOPER FAMILY, in conjunction with the world-traveled, white-hot theater group, TRIBES PROJECT of Seattle, Washington, will Unveil The Path To Passionate Peace In Greece, For Those Passionate To See War Cease. We will humbly endeavor to present a play that can offer the world hope that the Ekecheiria will last for sixteen millennia and not just 16 days. Our original theatrical production, SPILLING BLOOD: THE SECRET OF EPIDAVROS, has a cast strait out of the annals of ETHNIC HATRED. The young actors portraying archeological students on a dig in Epidavros, Greece, will include a Greek, a Turk, an Albanian Kosovar, a Serbian Kosovar, an Israeli Jew, a Palestinian, a Black South African, and a white 'closet racist' American. This play, conceived in Kosovo but inspired by the ancient healing center of Epidavros, is the story of three famous female archeologists and the phenomenal mystery exposed to them and their tolerance-challenged students during a dig in Epidavros, Greece. Initially, the women are seeking the secret to the success of Ancient Epidavros, the first known healing center in history. But, when this secret is finally revealed to them, they're forced to eat a bit more of the tree of knowledge than they bargained for. "Spilling Blood Is Holy" is the Greek Inscription they have unearthed along with a quartet of mysterious statues. At night, when the statues come to life and enter the dreams of the archeologists, the paradox of the ancient inscription is unveiled. But, only when it becomes clear that Zeus is the fourth statue, and the Goddess Athena bursts from his head, do we fully grasp the secret of Epidavros. Athena, Goddess of not only Wisdom, but so paradoxically also Goddess of War, poignantly shows us the unavoidable Wisdom of War. As the three female Archeologists embrace the sad realization that indeed, Spilling Blood is Holy, each one of their fractious group of students is devastated to behold that their individual sacred cow rationalizations for ethnic hatred have all arisen from the ONE SAD TRUTH. Without the rationalized Passion of their HATES they find the WEIGHT of their own souls ALMOST UNBEARABLE. Yet, as the Eight stand naked, without the Emperors War Armor and the Raging War Hormones that accompany it, they find within this WEIGHT The Second Passion that can replace The Primal Passion Of War. But is this Second Passion Forbidden? In the finale they all stand poised, paralyzed at an ancient crossroads. As one of the eight moans to the heavens ..."Our Father Who Art In Heaven has forbid us to eat of the Tree Of Knowledge... Oh, But Impetuous Youth, his only Begotten Son, Died to show us That The Truth Will Set Us Free Which do we follow the wisdom of our Fathers Age OR... The Youthful Zeal of His Son" Tune In Summer 2004 For The Answer To Their Dilemma As Art imitates Life and Life imitates Art, we will be gathering youthful actors, artists, and activists from around the Globe to not only perform Spilling Blood: The Secret of Epidavros, but to spend the summer of 2004 on a 400 acre working farm in Epidavros that will serve as our PASSIONATE PEACE VILLAGE. Participants and spectators alike, of the Summer Games, will be invited to our Village to take part in the CREATION and STUDY of Passionate Peace. Furthermore, The Wake of the Horse, an adaptation of an ancient Greek Play will be performed by the youth at the Village and around Greece. This play has been brought to life by J. Paul, Director and Artistic Guru of the Tribes Project, and features authentic Greek Masks and a haunting re-telling of the tale of The Women Of Troy. At the Ancient Healing Center of Epidavros, which is still being unearthed, there is a perfectly preserved open stone amphitheater(Pictured at top). Fourteen thousand ancient people at a time sat on these stones and beheld the healing magic of the theater pieces presented to them. It is here, we will perform, and pull the ancient into the present to create a new FUTURE. Why was a theater of such magnitude at a Healing Center? Why has the Olympic Truce, Ekecheiria, suddenly come forth to take such a prominent part of these particular summer Olympics? Why expose the Ancient secret of Epidavros and open the way for the flood that will beget PASSIONATE PEACE? Why join us in Epidavros in 2004 in either body or spirit?
